WHAT IS SUPPLIED
The Pantry supplies the basic food groups as well as many extras. During the Holiday seasons a complete food package is given to all families. Turkey and Hams are provided along with all the trimmings for a complete holiday meal.
In response to the community need the Food Pantry was open in 1980 by Father Tim Murphy of the Catholic Church. He was soon joined by Brother Terry O’Ruke.
As the number of families needing assistance increased the pantry relocated to Belle and Sons with the distribution at First United Methodist Church. In 2014 the pantry once again relocated to the present location of 200 East Canal Street and renamed Aberdeen Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry.
The pantry is operated by a team of volunteers that are dedicated to community service. These volunteers collect food, stock shelves, interview clients and distribute food. Each volunteer works hard to ensure that the Pantry’s clients receive needed supplies once a month.
